Back in the day, when trails were explored on hardtail mountain bikes with nothing more than 100mm of travel, and many cyclists used the same bike for commuting, those long hot summer days were the signal to wrap your cycling feet in nothing more than a sandal – by Lake of course! Casual shorts and tees were the order of the day, as coffee stops along the bike path in Chicago, along Lake Michigan, provided refreshments and a cool vibe for riders, as the cool air pierced the natural air conditioning design of our legendary cycling sandals.

Here at Lake, we’re constantly listening to our cycling community around the world, and so we believe now is the right time to bring back that cycling sandal classic – welcome to our all-new LXSDL! Like those legendary Lake Cycling Sandals of yesteryear, the new Lake LXSDL is SPD compatible, meaning that you can take on those technical and dusty trails on hot summer mountain days, with your feet feeling the cool summer breeze, as free as a bird.

Security & minimalism for all-around comfort

Based on our comfort Plus ‘Last’, the Lake LXSDL has been designed as a cycling sandal for adventure seekers, bike-packers, casual riders and commuters, where comfort is the main priority. It’s a cycling sandal where your wider feet have the freedom to spread out, with your foot held securely by the two super-strong hook and loop straps and a reinforced heel. The microfibre upper sections and webbing design has been well-thought-out to ensure that the foot remains stable, creating that all-important power, whilst allowing you to feel the freedom and cool vibe that cycling sandals give to your feet.  It’s especially welcome when bikepacking, and traversing those long, hot and dusty trails all over the world, and where your feet need to feel the wind around them, without losing that necessary and legendary Lake cycling shoe comfort.

Thanks to the firm and secure heel design, it’s also an easy task to clip in and out of those SPDs as your bike-packing journey calls for those necessary hike-a-bike sections. Add to this, that the front forefoot area of the LXSDL also has a reinforced toe bumper, protecting your all-important feet from rocks and knocks, and you’ve got a classic adventure cycling shoe for the age! The new LXSDL sandal is built for toughness, on the trail or in the city, and comes with a comfortable SPD compatible real rubber and EVA Enduro outsole, with a semi-rigid nylon midsole. It features Lake’s Legendary Fiberglass injected nylon sole formula, with an all-new design that has incredible grip and durability for all-day cycling and for when you’re off the bike too. We believe that the New Lake LXSDL is the reincarnation of a casual cycling classic!

It’s time for fun and some sole music

We always try to hit the right notes with cycling shoe comfort, and our new LXSDL comes with two independent insoles. It has a flat Eva insole on the bottom and a shaped insole on top, which gives more/ less volume adaptation in the shoe, dependent on your ideal volume fitting. In terms of the colder days, where you need an addition of warmth, the LXSDL also has an optional wind-proof Bootie accessory available, which is ideal for wearing inside the tent, with the sandals off. It’s simply a matter of removing the EVA insole and then placing the shaped insole into the bootie, then fastening the hook and eye strapping – and voila! Yes, you have something to add to the comfort at these key adventure cyclist moments.
